A Visit to Rome
With the start of spring ball just around the corner, we will soon be reading together as a
team. In order for those who have continued our morning reading not fall off of our routine, we will spend 16 of the next 19 days reading Paul’s letter to the Romans. This will leave us a few days at the end of the month for readings of our own choosing before beginning our journey through the 2013 season. God is so much closer than we think. Remind each other of His promises. As our nation and our culture seem to move further and further from our God honoring foundation, seize the opportunity to shine the light of Christ into the darkness. Season your speech with salt. Remember faith comes from hearing…hearing the word of God.

From Minor to MAJOR
For those who have continued with their daily devotional readings, I hope you enjoyed time spent with the minor prophets. Our Senior Pastor’s latest series
has been a wonderful compliment to the time we spent in Daniel around Thanksgiving.
Beginning Monday, Calvary Football will leave the minor prophets as we begin reading Isaiah – not just a major prophet, but seen as the greatest of the old testament prophets. Prophesy throughout the book of Isaiah includes the virgin birth, the overthrow of Babylon, Jesus’ miracles, John the Baptist as a messenger and hundreds of others. The prophesy in Isaiah clearly points to our Savior and His sacrifice for our sins.
The 66 books of Isaiah will take us into April and leave us just a few weeks short of the start of spring practice. Please pray about what we will read each morning during the 2013 football season (May to November). The last two years we have read through the 260 books of the new testament. I will be seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance as a plan is set out for this year’s devotional football calendar.

6th Grade Eagles Win Tri County Championship!
The 6th Grade Eagles won a hard fought battle against the University Suns 6th Grade team.
The Suns scored first with an outstanding run from Ben Peters, who proved to be a formidable opponent all afternoon.
The Eagles struck back quickly with a 40 yard completion from Skylar Pearcy to John James Yancy to set up a touchdown from Brennan Corey and an added 2 point conversion with a pass to Daniel Jones.
The Eagles defense held tough all afternoon on the potent Suns offense.
John James Yancy quickly added another score making the score 14 to 6 at halftime.
The third quarter brought an onslaught from University after Ben Peters added another run and score.
With the Eagles backed up to their own end zone on 4th down, the Eagles wisely gave up the safety so that they could kick off to the Suns instead of giving up the ball close to their own end zone. The Suns turned the ball over on downs.
With a left screen to John James Yancy, the young runner bobbed and weaved his way to another touchdown making the score 20-14.
With the Suns driving toward a possible tie, Hunter Guy intercepted a deep pass and ran it back for the final score 28-14.
Congratulations Team! Its been an amazing ride, and we are looking forward to the future.
